About Us

The Mercantile is located at 319 market Street in Lewisburg. The Mercantile, formerly Pennsylvania Mercantile, opened its doors at 106 market Street in Lewisburg in October of 1981 and moved to the current location in 1987.

Laurie started working at the store in 1985. She has managed all aspects of operations for 20 years. From buying to bookkeeping, she has been the pulse of The Mercantile.

In February, 2005 Laurie purchased the business from the original owner fulfilling a dream to own a business. She is the granddaughter of a well known business owner, Helen G. Lyons, who owned and operated Helen G. Lyons Gift Shop for 30 years in Lewisburg. Laurie feels she learned the love of retail from her grandmother.

I have literally spent my entire adult life working to make this store a success. It is gratifying to now have the ability to know my hard work is for my future.
